Aer Lingus load factor falls
It said new flights linking Dublin with Washington and San Francisco helped boost seating capacity on long haul routes by 42% in January from a year earlier.
The load factor fell to 64% last month from 69.2% a year earlier, led by an 11.2 percentage point drop on long haul flights.
“The decline in the long haul load factor represents a particularly weak performance as the airline struggles to fill planes on its expanded US route network as US consumer softness deepens,” said Neil Glynn, an analyst at NCB Stockbrokers.
The load factor on shorter trips fell less than 1% to 66.1% as traffic advanced 14%.
